Yes, you can pay in more than the basic contributions. For tax reasons you need to ensure that you do not exceed the annual allowance, which is set at £60,000 per year for 2024. If you are a high earner please be aware that this may be less due to the tapered annual allowance. If you are unsure if this applies to more information can be found
here.
Additional Voluntary Contributions
You can pay what is known as AVCs (Additional Voluntary Contributions). These will be paid into a separate AVC account for you. You can pay AVCs as long as you’re an active member of the Plan, up to the age of 75.
You can start, stop or change the amount you pay at any time.
If you choose to pay AVCs, they will not be matched by William Hill. Your AVCs will be taken from your pay before tax so you will get tax relief on them just like your normal contributions do.
To make or change your AVCs visit the library to download an AVC form.
If you have access to flexible benefits you will need to complete your AVC selection via your MyRewards platform, which will mean you also save on National Insurance.
